The formation of the 9th Illinois String Band has had a strange evolution. The beginnings were with traditional bluegrass in the style of Flatt & Scruggs - then David Koucký and Jan Osička. In uniform, they bring to life period music from the American Civil War both in the Czech Republic and abroad. BLUEGRASS COMEBACK
Stylistically, the group can be placed on the border between traditional and modern bluegrass.
The traditional dress of the band members on stage - dark suit, tie, hat, etc., also corresponds to the musical style, quite in line with the statement of the father of bluegrass, Bill Monroe : "You cannot play the bluegrass music in the striped pants." CZECH AMERICAN DREAM
that is how one could describe the life journey of journalist Tomáš Etzler.
In 1991, he went to the USA to try his luck, starting out as a window washer and occasional bricklayer, then in 1999 he began studying journalism at the University of Colorado and eventually managed to work his way up to the prestigious news station CNN.
To this day, Tomáš Etzler is the only Czech who has ever worked for CNN. MORE...
